Welcome to Memoir ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at memoir.bot.

2. Mobile Applications

Memoir is available as a web application and mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms. The mobile applications are developed and published by Zenius MMC.

This Privacy Policy applies to all versions of Memoir, including the web application and mobile applications. The same data collection, usage, and protection practices apply across all platforms.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

Account information (email address)
Profile information (name, optional profile picture)
Stories and memoirs you create
Voice recordings during voice sessions
Chat conversations with our AI assistant
Content shared by invited family members and friends
Subscription and purchase information (your plan, billing period, the store or service you paid through, transaction identifiers, and renewal and expiry dates). We never receive your full card number or other payment credentials.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

Process and transcribe voice recordings

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for data storage, which provides enterprise-grade security. Voice recordings are processed securely and transcriptions are stored encrypted. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with:

Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate our platform (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing)
Invited Contributors: Family members and friends you invite to contribute to your memoir
Payment and Subscription Processors: The companies that process and manage paid subscriptions, described below
Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

6.1 Payment and Subscription Processors

If you buy a paid plan, the following companies process your payment or keep the record of your subscription. Each handles your data under its own privacy policy.

Apple (App Store): processes purchases made in the iOS app. Apple collects your payment details directly and shares only transaction details with us, such as the product bought, purchase and renewal dates, and subscription status.
Google (Google Play): processes purchases made in the Android app. Google collects your payment details directly and shares only transaction details with us, as above.
Stripe: processes payments made on memoir.bot. We share your account identifier, email address and name so Stripe can create your customer record, and Stripe collects your payment details directly.
RevenueCat: manages subscriptions bought through the App Store and Google Play on our behalf. We share your account identifier, email address, name, sign-up date and sign-up platform so your customer record can be identified for support, and RevenueCat receives your in-app purchase history from Apple and Google.

When you delete your account, we remove your email address and name from your RevenueCat customer record. The purchase history on that record stays, linked only to an account identifier that no longer carries your name or email address, because a store subscription can continue after account deletion. Apple, Google and Stripe keep their records of your payments under their own policies and for legal, tax and accounting purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and associated data
Export your stories and content
Opt-out of marketing communications
Withdraw consent at any time

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can delete your account at any time through the settings page. Deleting your account takes effect immediately: you can no longer sign in, we remove your name, email address and profile photo from your profile, take down your public memoir page and delete its cover images, and remove your name and email address from stories you contributed to other people's memoirs (those stories stay in the memoirs they were written for). The rest of what your account held, such as your stories, chapters, chat messages and call transcripts, stays in our database under an account identifier that no longer carries your name or email address, and is not shown to anyone. To have that content permanently erased as well, email [email protected] from the email address on your account before you delete it. We also keep records we are required to retain for legal, tax or accounting purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
